About Our Program
The Exeter Eagles Swim Team welcomes swimmers and families for a fun, supportive summer focused on skill-building, confidence, and community. We offer two program paths—Eaglets and Eagles—to ensure swimmers are grouped appropriately for safety and development.
Eaglets: Great for newer swimmers ages 5–8 who can swim about 10 meters (about 1/3 of the pool) unassisted.
Eagles: Our main team for swimmers ages 5–18 who can swim at least one full length (8&Under) or two full lengths (9&Up) unassisted.
All new swimmers must complete an evaluation during the first week of practice at an assigned time. Evaluation times will be released at a later date. Evaluations help place swimmers in the best group for safety and development.
Eaglets Mini-Team (Ages 5–8)
We’re excited to continue the Eaglets mini-team this summer!
The Eaglets may have a few practices before school lets out depending on the availability of junior coaches. The first full week of morning practices will begin on June 16th. All swimmers registered for Eaglets will be evaluated on the first day of regular practice.
Eaglets must be at least 5 and no older than 8 by June 15th of the summer swim season. To be accepted on the Eaglets team, the swimmer must be able to get into the water comfortably and be able to swim 1/3 the length of the pool unassisted (approximately 10 meters).
We will welcome between 15 and 20 Eaglets this year, on a first registered, first served basis combined with the results of the evaluation. A wait list will be created after we reach 20 Eaglets.
Our goal is for each Eaglet to move up into the main team. Eaglets will have opportunities to compete in mini-meets with other teams.
Throughout the season, swimmers will be regularly evaluated during practices to determine their advancement eligibility. Coaches will consider each swimmer’s ability to swim 25 meters legally, along with their speed, endurance, and technique, to assess readiness for advancement.
May 26th to June 12th: Eaglets can advance to the Eagles main team only until June 12th.
June 15th to July 8th: Eaglets can advance to competitive swimmer status. While they can compete in official swim meets and earn official times, they will continue to practice with the Eaglets mini-team.
Parents will be notified by email, not on deck, of any changes to their swimmer’s status.
Volunteer hour requirements still apply to Eaglet families.
Eagles Swim Team (Ages 5–18)
We’re excited to welcome swimmers to the Exeter Eagles main team this summer!
The Eagles are our main swim team for swimmers ages 5–18. Practices focus on building strong fundamentals, improving technique across all four strokes, developing endurance and speed, and—most importantly—having fun as a team.
8 & Under: Swimmers must be able to swim the full length of the pool unassisted.
9 & Up: Swimmers must be able to swim two full lengths of the pool unassisted.
Eagles swimmers will have opportunities to participate in regular season meets, relays, and end-of-season championship events. Swimmers are encouraged to attend as many practices and meets as possible to build confidence, friendships, and personal bests.
Volunteer hour requirements apply to all Eagles families.
What to Bring & What to Expect
Swimmers should arrive in a competition-style swimsuit and bring goggles, a swim cap, a towel, and a water bottle. Please label all items with your swimmer’s name.
While attendance isn’t required, we strongly encourage swimmers to attend as many practices and meets as possible. The more your swimmer attends, the more they’ll gain—from skill development to friendships and fun memories!
